Prebuttal Rebuttal: Right Message, Wrong Candidate

Rush Limbaugh Prebutted Obama’s forthcoming speech http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_102908/content/01125112.guest.html.  Here is my rebuttal to his prebuttal:

Prebuttal Rebuttal: Right Message, Wrong Candidate

Mr. Limbaugh,

I was able to catch your Prebuttal to Obama’s forthcoming speech (then find the transcript online), and you were mostly correct. You are correct that folks are losing their jobs and having a harder and harder time paying their mortgages, tuitions, day care, and etc. You mentioned “The question is whether we want another eight years of failed policies”, but fail to recognize that those same failed policies go back much farther, but especially the last twenty years, those which have led to Constitutional degradation.

Partisan Discrimination

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

There are reports, at least in one neighboring county, that the third parties in yesterdays primary were discriminated against.  To vote in an Illinois primary, one must declare which political party’s ballot to vote for.  Some may not know that there were a few third party races being contested.  Also, the only way to change your party affiliation in Illinois is through the primary process.  Whichever ballot you pull, Illinois will consider you a member of that party until you vote for a different party in a subsequent primary election.  Those numbers become important to the respective parties.

Voting Issues

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Normally I vote as soon as the polls open, but the precinct in which I vote moved and I didn’t want to deal with any unexpected issues to make me late for work so I voted after work.  I deliberately did not listen to any news on my way home that might try to influence how I was planning to vote.  When I come home, I found that several people were having significant issues in the polling places.  This after I had just been assured that voting system used in Peoria was in fact a good one.  I am sure that this is an unintended blip, but it shows how electronic voting may not be ready for the public.  I will be waiting for the official why’s, what’s, and where’s for the Peoria Election Commission.

Electronic Voting Update

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Earlier I posted on to possible decertification of some HartIntercivic electronic voting machines in Colorado.  HartIntercivic is the same company that provides Peoria and Peoria County with their voting equipment.  As I stated in that post, I have been weary of electronic voting on the whole and there has been several Internet articles on how the integrity can/has been compromised on some of the systems.  Tom Bride, executive director for the City of Peoria Election Commission commented on my last post and invited me to check out the Hart system.  I took him up on his offer.  What I was really impressed about was how Tom makes sure the election commission is open to the people.

Your Vote No Longer Matters…

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

…Unless you are a Democrat.  Then only your vote counts!

What I’m talking about is the recently passed law (HB1685) that joins Illinois in with other states to elect the President by national popular vote.  This would effectively eliminate the purpose of the electoral college system.  Many will of course think this is great, many won’t even care, while others are left to ask why does it matter.

Lax on blogging lately

Friday, January 18th, 2008

I haven’t been blogging lately because I’ve still been busy with the holiday stuff.  We had a few Christmas celebrations and then immediately following a few birthdays.  My birthday was also last week.  For those wondering, I am now constitutionally legal to be President of the United States.

Electronic Voting… Oops!!

I have been suspicious of the electronic voting machines since they were introduced in Peoria County. I was never satisfied that the paper trail could be accurately traced back to actual votes, not to mention all the potential voter information that could be gathered. It has seems to me that a free and open election can not be guaranteed using the electronic voting systems. Although I am sure that no vote tampering has occurred, I think it is way too easy for someone to do, and it seems I am not the only one with this opinion.
